This training presents a very effective strategy to use for protecting communities and critical facilities from flooding. You can also recover some energy from this process. Chemical pollution is removed as well.
- How to protect communities from flooding in high-risk areas
- How to recover some energy from the very same natural process
- How to remediate (or remove) chemicals brought by the stormwater runoff & polluted surface waters
During this training you’ll learn how to generate new energy through composting then apply the final product as a natural barrier to runoff. First of all a specific mixture of raw materials is selected and composted. This process can serve as energy supply. Later, the obtained compost is arranged in dedicated pipes to create a series of biofilters. Such biofilters remove several pollutants (both organic and chemicals) from the water runoff. The system prevents co-contamination of energy facilities from and for other potential sources of pollution, like agriculture, other industries or municipal waste-water.
In addition, you will also find the most effective way to protect critical areas from flooding with the use of used tyres and concrete (waste from building industry). This is a very special module called “The Wonders of Guanacaste”. This method allows to better protect energy facilities. The method is good to protect selected critical sites inside the facility as well.
Finally, you will learn how to use wood for protecting critical areas from floods. There are at least three natural structures to build: crib walls, overlow channels and bypass channels. Depending on the affected area, the most suitable solution is selected. Wood can also be redirected to several other remediation purposes (during the live training some of them are listed).
What are the best materials to use for creating biofilters able to remove pollutants from the storwater runoff thus protecting even from chemical contamination, besides acting like a natural barrier.
Where energy comes from and what we can do right now to improve the energy generation process; this is particularly related to the opportunity of composting the so called C&D Waste (construction & demolition).
The best strategy is the one able to ensure the natural, constant and effective protection of critical facilities, communities and the possible co-contamination of agricultural fields as well as other areas at high risk for some reasons.
This live training focuses the attention on flooding and belongs to the bigger framework called “Disaster Blaster – Energy Faster”. This very special framework is aimed at optimizing natural resources in order to increase the level of preparedness among communities and energy industries.
If you wish, there is the chance of ordering a customized handbook that covers more deeply a specific issue related to opportunities for increasing natural protection measures against flooding. You only need to send us a message and we’ll reply with our proposal.
