This training presents a very effective strategy that communities and governments (and companies as well) should consider a lot for solving the issue of pollution by landfills. Gaseous emissions and leachate are addressed.
- How to create and use compost covers to stop gaseous emissions from landfills
- How to create and use very special activated carbons made by natural resources for leachate cleanup
- How to generate new energy during the preparation phase of two method described above
During this training you’ll learn two advanced (but easy to implement) solutions for dealing well with pollution by landfills. In some cases, recovering energy (gases) is possible. Tamarind seeds are burnt then activated carbons are made available. This natural preparation is expected to remove ammoniacal nitrogen (almost 90%) and chemical oxygen demand (approx. 50%). The amount of material to be used is important for ensuring the best benefit. The other solution is made by compost covers for landfills, able to limit gaseous emissions from the area. Energy can be generated through composting during the preparation phase. The same is valid for tamarind seeds activated carbons.
Landfills are not the solution for disposal of waste. This has to be clear and the final goal of every smart waste management plan is to empty all landfills. A lot of waste can be recycled, other reused or re-directed to some special industrial activities. There is a little amount of waste cannot be reduced, recycled or reused. That’s why landfills have to be considered just like a “temporary” solution awaiting the “final” safe and sustainable disposal of waste.
Pollution by landfills is due to the emission of some gases, like methane. Big landfills release high loads of methane that in some cases it’s even collected for energy purposes; this unfortunately does not happen for smaller and more diffused landfills. In addition, contamination by leachate is also very relevant. Full of organic pollutants (and in many cases of heavy metals and other harmful compounds) it has to be limited and removed as mush as possible to avoid a significant contamination spread.
A double solution made by compost covers and activated carbons from specific seeds allows to achieve very good results. Moreover, natural processes needed to obtain the above mentioned solutions allow to generate new energy meanwhile.
The right ingredients to be composted in order to create the most effective compost covers; by doing so, communities are deeply involved and the affected area is free from gaseous pollution in a very short time.
The right natural products to be used for the creation of highly effective activated carbons; these products are very common and after an easy pre-treatment they perform a very good work; organic pollution removal from leachate is very high.
The brand-new opportunity to generate more energy during the preparation process; this is really an asset, because it couples the natural remediation of pollution by landfills with the immediate availability of additional energy, obtained for free. A not to miss opportunity.
This live training focuses the attention on many opportunities to deal with pollution by landfills and belongs to the bigger framework called “Remedial Energy For Waste Industry”. This very special framework is aimed at bringing the “white” into the “black” of the energy. For this particular training, basically everyone can really benefit from that: from affected communities up to waste disposal and treatment industries as well as policymakers. By applying the proposed guidelines, there is in fact the true opportunity to stop one of the most widespread environmental threats.
If you wish, there is the chance of ordering a customized handbook that covers more deeply a selected issue related to the presence of landfills, like accidental fires, natural protection from disasters or dealing with some specific pollutant should not be present on the area (illegal dumping). To do that, you only need to send us a message and we’ll reply with our proposal.
